Delete your account

Last updated 1 October 2026

This page explains how to have your Checked by Durham Lifting account, published by GS and SG Holdings Ltd, deleted — including if you have already removed the app from your device.

Delete it yourself, in the app

If you can still sign in, this is the quickest way. Open My profile — from the menu in the app — and use Delete your account at the bottom of the page. You will be asked to type your email address to confirm, and you are signed out straight away.

If you cannot sign in

Telephone Durham Lifting on 01325 318844 and ask for your Checked by Durham Lifting account to be deleted, or write to GS and SG Holdings Ltd at its registered office.

Please tell us:

  • The email address you sign in with
  • The organisation whose equipment you were looking at

We will confirm the request with you, act on it within one month, and write to you when it is done.

What is deleted

  • Your login, so you can no longer sign in
  • Your email address and telephone number
  • Your notification preferences

What is kept, and why

Records of work carried out on equipment are not deleted with your account. Thorough examination reports, pre-use checks and fault reports are legal records about a piece of lifting equipment — its condition on a given date, and who examined it. Removing them would break the equipment’s history and could leave your employer unable to show that a statutory examination was done.

Your name stays on those records. Where a record names you — as the engineer who examined an item, or the person who reported a fault — the name remains. A thorough examination report that cannot say who carried it out is worthless, and it is your employer’s legal record rather than ours to alter. Deleting your account stops you signing in; it does not rewrite the inspection history.

If you believe a specific record should not name you, say so when you get in touch and we will look at it individually.

Deleting someone else’s account

If you administer your organisation’s portal, you can deactivate a colleague’s login yourself from the Team page. Get in touch using the details above if you want the account removed entirely rather than deactivated.
